Leland Gaitani | they/he
Leland Gaitani was born and raised in Thomasville, Georgia — a small town along the South Georgia border. Growing up, Leland had a fascination with cameras, always hoarding their mom's camera phone to fill it with photos of like, the carpet and their toys.
Leland spent a lot of their adolescence and teen years participating in theatre and marching/symphonic band. Being creative is where they felt they truly shined. They often took photos in their free time on their iPhone 5C, posting on Instagram for their 13 followers. Leland wrote and posted corresponding "poetry" under the hashtag #poetrybykrib where they started truly expanding their hobbies.
Leland watched Twin Peaks for the first time at 15 and became absolutely obsessed. They decided then that they knew they wanted to "make art that would make David Lynch proud". In 2017 when Twin Peaks: The Return was released 25 years after Season 2, they felt it was a sign; a calling to an art they'd always dreamt about pursuing.
When Lee got his first DSLR camera in 2019, the world got a little bit brighter. He did everything he could to learn all about that little 2013 Canon and taught themself a lot about photography in the process. They're still learning all the time, but isn't that one of the beautiful things about being alive?
Leland now spends his time perfecting their craft and he feels incredibly grateful to be so fluid and flexible, making the timeline of their work almost like its own film. They created this website so they could show people how they see the world. Nothing feels more intimate than sharing art and Leland wears his heart on his sleeve, collar, and pants!
